The Ministry of Education held the 21st “Technical Excellence Awards” ceremony on Friday, December 19, recognizing outstanding achievements in professional skills and practical performance within the technical and vocational education system. This year, NFU had three students receive the “Technical Excellence Award,” demonstrating remarkable performance in the field of professional certifications and fully showcasing the strong integration of theory and practice fostered by technical and vocational education.
The Ministry of Education noted that the “Technical Excellence Awards” are divided into two main categories: the “Outstanding Competition Award” and the “Technical Excellence Award.” The awards aim to encourage students to demonstrate the distinctive strengths of technical and vocational education through professional skills, innovative research and development, and practical achievements, in alignment with the Ministry’s policies on revitalizing technical education and strengthening industry–academia collaboration.
The “Technical Excellence Award” focuses on students’ achievements in invention and innovation, professional certifications, and other representative accomplishments, emphasizing a high degree of alignment with their fields of study and industry needs. This year’s award recipients from NFU include Zeng Yu-Lung and Zou Han-Ting from the Department of Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering, as well as Hsu Jen-Lung from the Department of Automation Engineering. All three actively enhanced their professional skills during their studies and obtained multiple Class B professional certifications, demonstrating strong practical capabilities in the fields of precision manufacturing and intelligent machinery.
President Shinn-Liang Chang stated that the core of technical and vocational education lies in enabling students to assess their learning outcomes through hands-on practice, applied technologies, and certification examinations during the learning process. By doing so, students can set new learning goals, continuously challenge themselves, and further refine their competencies—key qualities required of innovative technical professionals in the era of emerging technologies.
President Chang further emphasized that NFU has long aligned itself with the Ministry of Education’s technical education policies by focusing on practice-oriented curricula, certification training systems, and industry collaboration. Through this approach, the University has established a comprehensive talent cultivation system spanning learning, validation, and employment, enabling students to acquire industry-recognized professional competencies before graduation and fulfilling the core mission of technical and vocational education in supporting national industrial development.
