Guidelines for the Application of Industry Expert Co-Teaching Subsidy for the 1st Semester of Academic Year 2025

Applications for this semester’s Industry Expert Co-Teaching courses must be submitted through the “Online Approval System.”Please read the announcement carefully to avoid affecting your rights.

 

    To comply with the Ministry of Education’s goal of enhancing practical teaching in technical and vocational education and cultivating high-quality professional talents with hands-on and employability skills, National Formosa University actively promotes the improvement of practical curriculum quality. Through strengthening the connection between technical education and industry, the university aims to provide students with direct access to industrial technology and reduce the gap between academic training and industry needs. To promote the offering of cooperative courses with industry experts, the university has established the “Guidelines for Industry Expert Co-Teaching” as part of the key initiatives of the Higher Education Sprout Project.

1. Eligibility:

(1) Applications must be submitted by full-time faculty members of the university. Courses implemented should primarily be practical courses, but are not limited to laboratory or practicum courses.

(2) Definition of Industry Expert: Individuals with a college degree or above and at least 5 years of practical experience related to the teaching field; or individuals with more than 10 years of relevant professional experience and outstanding performance; or others whom the applying faculty member deems capable of performing the required duties.

(3) Industry Expert Co-Teaching: Faculty members may invite an industry expert to co-teach during the 18-week course. The course should primarily emphasize “practical instruction,” supplemented by other teaching methods (see application form for details).

2. Implementation:

(1) Each department may apply for three co-teaching courses (three general co-teaching courses), with priority given to cross-disciplinary teaching content. (Please use the application format announced for this semester.)

(2) The Office of Academic Affairs will schedule one “Industry Expert Co-Teaching Achievement Presentation and Sharing Session,” during which selected outstanding courses will share innovative strategies and results. Departments shall select one course conducted in the current year to participate; the Office of Academic Affairs may also recommend courses.

3. Subsidy Guidelines:

(1) Hourly pay for industry experts: Up to NT$2,000 per hour, maximum subsidy of NT$2,000 × 3 hours, including supplementary insurance fees.

(2) Transportation for industry experts: Up to NT$2,000, reimbursed based on actual expenses.

(3) Teaching material fee for faculty: Up to NT$3,000. Materials must be co-developed by the faculty member and the industry expert. Indicate “Co-developed Teaching Materials” in the application form and include the materials when submitting the end-of-term activity summary using the designated template.

(4) Expenses will be covered by the “Higher Education Sprout Project – Objective 1 Budget.”

4. Application Procedure:

(1) Please submit the following documents at least one week before the start of the co-teaching course via the “Online Approval System” (https://eisms.nfu.edu.tw/login): 1. Co-Teaching Application Form (Attachment 1) 2. Industry Expert CV (Attachment 2)

(2) For reimbursement, submit: 1. Payment receipt list (pre-purchase) 2. Receipt to the Cross-disciplinary Academy Office In addition, upload the Activity Summary (Attachment 3) via the “Online Approval System” (https://eisms.nfu.edu.tw/login).

5. Notes:

(1) Faculty members are not required to provide additional make-up classes but must participate in the entire co-teaching course. They must also assist in reporting indicators related to co-teaching for the Higher Education Sprout Project and are encouraged to provide course outcome videos.

(2) If the industry expert meets any of the conditions stated in Articles 3 to 6 of the “Implementation Regulations for Engaging Industry Experts to Co-Teach at Junior Colleges and Higher Institutions” (Attachment 4), the university will not appoint the individual.

(3) Faculty members are encouraged to provide course outcome videos. Digital files may be emailed to the coordinator: sophie@nfu.edu.tw.

6. Application & Reimbursement Period:

From now until November 25, 2025. All required information must be fully completed to avoid delays.
