Call for Proposals: 1st Semester of Academic Year 114 “Deep-Dive Courses” (Electronic Approval)
Announcement Date: August 1, 114 (Minguo Calendar)
This semester’s deep-dive course proposal is submitted via the “Online Approval System,” and some application rules and documents have been slightly modified. Please read this announcement carefully to avoid affecting your rights!
I. Course Description: To implement the Ministry of Education’s philosophy and objectives, courses are developed with core competencies as the main axis. Core competencies are integrated or flexibly included in deep-dive learning. These courses are student-centered, focusing on extending and deepening the original course content through issue-based discussions, interactive learning, or practical exercises, thereby enhancing students’ critical thinking and application of knowledge.
II. Course Categories:
(1) Regular Deep-Dive Courses:
These are additional courses beyond the original course (preferably major core required courses) that add extra opportunities for student discussion, practice, interactive learning, or field-based learning, considered as official elective courses. The focus is on extension and deeper learning rather than internship or remedial teaching. Courses can be taught in Chinese or bilingually.
(2) EMI Dual-Instructor Deep-Dive Courses:
Similar to regular deep-dive courses, but with additional English discussion, practice, and interactive learning opportunities. Considered official elective courses, the extra 1-credit English non-lecture-based course focuses on extension and deeper learning through a “dual-instructor” model, gradually strengthening students’ English language performance. (*Before applying, please ensure the course has been approved as an EMI course for AY114-1)
(3) AI Application Deep-Dive Courses: These are courses not originally related to AI, with additional 1-credit content for AI discussion, practice, interactive learning, or AI scenario-based learning, considered official elective courses. Not limited to generative or discriminative AI; aims to cultivate students’ AI application skills.
**Categories (1) and (2) may only be applied separately. For EMI dual-instructor courses, if a bilingual instructor recommendation is required, please contact the project officer (05-631-5127).
III. Eligibility:
(1) Applicants must be full-time or part-time faculty; each teacher may apply for one course only.
(2) Regular deep-dive courses: Applicable to undergraduate and junior college courses; each course adds 1 credit. Internships, labs, and project discussions do not apply.
(3) EMI dual-instructor courses: Applicable to undergraduate, junior college, graduate, and doctoral courses; each course adds 1 credit.
(4) Bilingual instructors: Part-time or full-time faculty or external lecturers in English-related fields, holding either EMI teacher training certification or CEFR B2 certificate.
IV. Application Method:
(1) Submit applications via the Online Approval System (https://eisms.nfu.edu.tw/login) by August 15, 114 (Friday) and upload the “Deep-Dive Course Proposal Form” (Attachment 1). System instructions are provided in Attachment 2 or on the Academic Affairs Office website.
(2) Before uploading, ensure the proposal is approved by the respective department curriculum committee (retroactive approval allowed), then reviewed and approved by the Flexible Credit Course Committee. EMI dual-instructor courses are exempt from departmental approval. Enrollment follows the university’s course selection regulations.
V. Notes:
(1) Courses must align with existing courses. Course title format: Original Course Name + Deep-Dive Learning (e.g., Computer Programming → Computer Programming Deep-Dive Learning). Extra credits must be non-lecture-based, including discussion, practice, demonstrations, etc.
(2) Courses must have tangible outputs such as project exhibitions, public presentations, reports, or participation in external competitions.
