[Office of Research and Development Notification] The Academia Sinica is accepting online applications for the 2026 "Academia Sinica Young Investigator Award" from December 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026. Please be informed accordingly.

Instructions:

1. This award is divided into three categories: Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Each category may have up to 3 recipients per year. If necessary, one additional award may be granted for interdisciplinary sciences. Awardees will receive a cash prize and research grant of NT$300,000 each, as well as a medal.

2. Eligibility and application requirements are as follows:

(i) Eligibility: Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree from a domestic public university, a private university or independent college accredited by the Ministry of Education, or a foreign university or independent college recognized by Academia Sinica, and meet the following conditions:
  1. Applicants must have served as a full-time research fellow, assistant professor, or equivalent position for less than 8 years (i.e., first appointment on or after August 1, 2017). Periods of unpaid leave for childbirth or child care may extend the eligibility by 2 years for each child.
  2. Applicants must hold a full-time position at a domestic academic research institution or a public/private university (postdoctoral positions are excluded).
(ii) Application Procedures:
  1. Applications must be submitted online.
  2. Required documents include:
    1. Up to three representative publications produced or accepted during the past five years (from August 2, 2020, to August 1, 2025) while employed domestically, excluding theses. Publications may be in any language. If the publication is an extended or revised version of a thesis, the applicant must provide an explanation of the extension or modification and its novelty, and approval by the review committee is required to include it as a representative work.
    2. A list of research publications produced during the past five years (August 2, 2020, to August 1, 2025).
    3. Two letters of recommendation.
    4. Applicants not affiliated with Academia Sinica must also provide a service certificate from their current institution (issued after August 1, 2025) and a copy of the doctoral degree certificate.

3. Interested applicants should submit their application via the Academia Sinica Academic Service Management System by January 15, 2026 (https://asms.sinica.edu.tw/). Applicants for the Mathematical and Physical Sciences or Life Sciences categories (including interdisciplinary sciences) must use the English interface (click "English" at the top right corner of the system homepage) and complete the application in English.
